Memories of Rudolf Steiner
by Ludwig Graf Polzer-Hoditz

Preface

My old friend Dr. W. J. Stein has asked me to write down my memories of Rudolf Steiner. I accede to this request with all the more pleasure since Dr. Stein was fated to be of especial help when it fell to me to perform the most important task of my life through Rudolf Steiner. This task still exists, though in a somewhat modified form, and I shall endeavour to continue to fulfil it. It will be described in more detail at a later stage.

It is my hope that these reminiscences will in some measure bring about among those in public life in England, who feel spiritual kinship with the Austrian character, an appreciation of the world importance of Rudolf Steiner.

In these articles only the second part of my life will be dealt with, though occasional mention will be made of my earlier years to show how they prepared me for that meeting in my 39th year with Rudolf Steiner, and helped me to understand his teachings. In order not to appear paradoxical or fantastic, it will be necessary to introduce but gradually those problem is which are of importance for a coming generation.
