JOHN DAVY, O.B.E., M.A. (Cantab) (1927-1984)
Co-director of Emerson College, Forest Row, England, he had particular
responsibility for the Foundation Year. This provides a general basis for
various forms of training inspired by the work of Rudolf Steiner, and is a
requirement for the Waldorf (Steiner-based) teacher training course at the
College. He was also an international lecturer and General Chairman of the
Anthroposophical Society of Great Britain.
After studying zoology at Cambridge, he was, for 16 years, science editor
of The Observer in London, England. He was awarded the O.B.E. (Order
of the British Empire) in 1965 by Queen Elizabeth II for his achievements
in science writing.
